How does Shift work?
  1. Look first. Select an arrow to preview its route. Its letter identifies it on the board and in the links.
  2. Leave a clear path. An arrow can leave only when no arrow or wall blocks its direction.
  3. Watch the links. When an arrow leaves, every remaining arrow listed on its tile turns 90° clockwise. Turns happen once, on departure; they don’t trigger another departure.
  4. Think ahead. A clear exit can still be the wrong move. Clear every arrow; use Undo to try a different order.

Three hints per attempt: first an observation, then a link explained, then a suggested move. Hints use the current board. Refreshing, switching levels and undoing do not refill them; Restart gives you a fresh attempt with three hints. Click your companion to say hi or get a smile — these interactions are always free.

Keyboard: Tab to an arrow, Enter to preview, then use the Leave button. Arrow keys move between tiles.

Shift: a strategy arrow puzzle

Shift is the linked-arrow mode in Off The Clock, a free browser puzzle game. Play 45 campaign levels on 5×5 through 10×10 boards. There is no timer, download or account required.

Preview, then choose your exit

Select an arrow to preview its route and links, then press Leave. An arrow needs a clear path past every other arrow and fixed wall. When it leaves, the remaining arrows listed on its tile turn 90° clockwise. They stay in place until you release them. A legal exit can still leave you stuck, so the order matters.

Can I undo a move or get a hint?

Yes. Undo restores the previous board and its directions. Each attempt has three hints: an observation, a link explained, and a suggested move. Restart begins a fresh attempt. Saying hi to your office companion uses no hint.

How many levels are there, and does progress save?

The campaign has 45 levels and 45 trophies. Use Next puzzle after clearing a board to continue. Progress saves in this browser on this device; it does not automatically sync to another device.
